Greetings potential Wildflower House families!
My name is Christina, and I am the owner of Wildflower House Preschool. I have been teaching in early childhood for 13 years. It has been a dream of mine to start my own school and now here we are! My husband and I have 6 children between us, we enjoy the outdoors, gardening, rock hounding and family time. Thank you for your interest in our school. Wildflower House is an in-home preschool located in Marysville, Ca. Our program nurtures children's natural curiosity and love of learning in a calm and nature inspired environment. Our class is a 6:1 ratio. Our curriculum is emergent in nature and child-led in the manner that children construct their own knowledge through a carefully planned curriculum that engages and builds upon the child’s current knowledge. We place great emphasis on using materials and activities that provoke investigation and group learning.
Our Philosophy
Children are all unique and we feel that they each can bring something special to their own education. It is our desire to create a preschool that has a secure, safe and caring atmosphere where children can grow, physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. We will provide a safe environment where children are invited to share their ideas and take risks. We will help children to express themselves and accept themselves for who they are, as well as embrace the differences of others.
For children to construct knowledge, they need the opportunity to discover for themselves and practice skills in authentic situations. Providing children access to hands-on activities and allowing adequate time and space to use materials that reinforce the lesson being studied creates an opportunity for individual discovery and construction of knowledge to occur. Equally important to self-discovery is having the opportunity to study things that are meaningful and relevant to one's life and interests. Developing a curriculum around student interests fosters intrinsic motivation and stimulates the passion to learn.
